Boilerjuice

If you have an oil furnace you will have to take more care of it than if you had a gas furnace. Your oil furnace will last much longer if you take car to look after it properly. Making sure they are cleaned every year can prolong the life of your oil furnace. Although it is not difficult to do it can be quite messy.

The first thing to do is to disconnect the power supply. The burner assembly which is located next to the electrodes should be removed next. You should check your own manual to find out exactly how to do this. The next thing to do is to replace the nozzle with a new one making sure that the spray pattern is still the same.

Any oil or soot can then be removed from the assembly by giving it a complete wipe down. You should inspect the electrodes and if the insulators contain any cracks or are eroded in any way, you will need to replace them. Before inspecting the electrodes though, you should firstly gap and position them. The electrodes will need to be gapped with the help of a special tool otherwise you could run the risk of fires or explosions.

You will also have to wipe down the oil pump, air passages, transformer and its electrodes and the cage on the combustion blower. You can restart the furnace again once you have put it all back together. You should expect it to restart very quickly and silently

Making sure your oil furnace is cleaned regularly can help it to last longer but it is very important that it is done right. The instruction manual that came with your furnace should have detailed instructions on how to do this. If you are at all worried that you will not be able to do this right, you can hire a professional to come and service and clean your furnace annually.

Getting the home heated up during winter can be very expensive. Gas and electricity are very expensive today, with no signs of prices coming down. Many individuals are now changing over to cheaper home heating oil though. After the changeover they have to make sure that the storage tanks are always full of Boilerjuice to make sure they don't run dry in the cold weather.
